TobyMac Concert

Last night, my whole family went to see TobyMac perform at Temple U! It was so much fun! A ton of our friends were there from youth group, and we partied! TobyMac had several supporting artists perform as well! Britt Nicole, Mandisa, Brandon Heath, Chris August, Jamie Grace, and Group 1 Crew! At different points in each performance, the artists would sing with eachother, and at the end, they all sang together again! They put on a great show, and I'm so glad we could go!

Thanksgiving!

Happy Thanksgiving friends and family!!

Before I go any further, I should probably mention something hilarious about Aunt Mere.

You know when you open those cans of biscuits and they pop?
Well Aunt Mere is COMPLETELY freaked out of that noise.

True story.

Anyway, I love you all and hope that your Thanksgiving is amazing and full of joy!

Tourneys

And once again, tournament season is upon me. I played my first tournament in Montgomeryville yesterday, and emerged sore and tired. We played three hard games. I now feel like I'm walking like a robot xP.

Baptized! (And TobyMac)(and the Dead Sea Scrolls)

Hello all my followers... :) (So fun to say that.. xD)

So, as the title suggests, I have three cool things to share with you today :).  First off, I was baptized yesterday!  16 youth and 3 adults were baptized in a local creek yesterday by the youth and singles pastor.  It was a really cool time, especially since me and Sam (brother) were able to be baptized on the same day :).  Both of us had plenty of friends getting baptized, to it was really cool. :).  Sam and I were one of the last ones to go (Since out last name is Stehr, alphabetically, we're always last :P).  Mr. Bell (On the right in pics, youth pastor) asked every person, "Have you placed your faith in Jesus Christ?"  All the youth (except me) answered, "I have."  I decided to change it up a little, and I said, "Fo sho!" Then I shared a little about my faith.  After I got dunked (lol), all of the singles caregroup (small group) surprised me and shouted "DOGGIE PILE!"  They ended up barely coming in the water, but I got dunked again by them.. :).  That was pretty funny :D.  (I was the only one they did it to, so everyone cheered and laughed xD).  I hang out with a lot of the single women a lot, cause we're all buds and stuff :).  Anyway..... After that crazy production, my bro got baptized. :)  That was awesome to watch.

After all 19 were baptized, all 300+ people there gathered around us and prayed for us.  It was a great time :).

Now, TOBYMAC!  I need to mention this.. :).  TobyMac released a new album call "Eye on It."  If you're a fan of his, or even if you're not, it is an AMAZING album.  I love it :D.  At the moment, his album (As well as a Christian rapper named, Lecrae), is number 4 and 2 on iTunes!  Pretty amazing for Christian music! :).

And one more thing..... >:3.  The Dead Sea Scrolls are on exhibition at a museum in Philadelphia!  I went to see them Saturday with dad!  WAS SOOOO COOL!  AH!  Omnibus students, it is all of our dream to see the stuff we learn about, so I'll post pictures later for you to see some of these AWESOME artifacts :D.  The only thing that was a bit disconcerting about the exhibit, is that they used a completely different date system.  They didn't want to offend anyone, so they didn't use BC/AD, they used BCE/CE, meaning "Before the Common Era" and "The Common Era."  Pretty sad.  I had no idea what the dates meant in relation to the BC/AD dates I learned :P.  After the museum, me and dad went to the Philly Bar and Restaurant and got some wings and hand cut fries :D.  Then..... we went to the Franklin Floats place and got some homemade ice cream :D.  (Actually I got a float :P. I'll post those pics later too :)

So anyway, I think that pretty much wraps up my weekend... so... yeah :).  How was everyone's else's weekend?

CAN'T WAIT TO SEE YA SOON AUNT MERE! :DDD

School!

Well, school is upon us once again!  I'm was super excited to get started!  The HW load hasn't been crazy so far... But that could change.  VPSA* is by far, the best school that I've ever done.  In my sixth year with them, I'm going into Omnibus 4.  Ancients again... Ah well.  If you ever have any urge to discuss Livy, Plato, or the deep themes within the Iliad, call me up on Skype!  Micah, Asher, and all my other buds that follow this blog, I'm serious!  We should seriously do a monthly Omnibus Skype chat or something.. >:3.  To my utter horror, I also discovered that we will be reading The Landmark Thucydides.  This is, in essence, Herodotus 2.  :O.  Ah.... the memories..... xP.  Anyway, Omnibus aside, I also have Comp. 1, Logic 1, and Algebra 2.  Comp. 1...... Ah, so many things I could say about that... Well, to start, I'm taking it over.  Unfortunately, the year I took it in seventh grade, I wasn't yet enrolled in the high school Diploma program...  It didn't count then, so I have to re-take it.... with a bunch of 12 and 13 year olds.  Ah.... such is my luck.  There is one kid named Carlos who insists on calling me "Linda."  Evidently this is because he cannot find the z button on his keyboard to spell "Lindz."  After one class, I was about ready to strangle him.  Linda......?  Uh no.   Logic is fun.  I'm taking it with Sam :).  (My little bro).  Mr. Baker is a hilarious teacher.  His humor reminds me of Dr. Nixon :D.  Having fun with that so far, but once again, the general age range is 12-13... :P.  Algebra 2!  Now this, is a MAJORLY fun class... Ever had Mrs. Stublin?  She is HILARIOUS.  I didn't really ever think math could be fun.... but wow... she makes it EPIK.  Then of course, I have Mrs. Hensley for Omnibus 4 Primary.  I really don't need to say much there.  :).. She is already the most epik teacher on the planet :).. She is also the greatest Godly example to look up to :).  I'm having TONS of fun with Asher and Serena already this year.  Our class only has 11 kids, but our discussions are still fun, even if they're a little shorter...

So anyway, that pretty much sums up school.  In other awesome news, PSYCH SEASON SIX COMES OUT ON NETFLIX SOON!!!!!! YAYAYAYAYAYAYAYAYAYAY!!! *freaks out*
OH, AND WHITE COLLAR SEASON FOUR COMES OUT ON NETFLIX SOON!!!!!!!! *freaks out again*

I think that's it... other than all that freaking out, my life is rather filled with school.  Oh!  Just remembered.. We have a Chinese exchange student for a whole year....!  Rather mixed emotions on the whole thing.  His name is Pong Chen.. (Or something like that).  He told us to call him "Super Chen.."  Evidently his friends call him Super Chen b/c he is around 6 ft. and rather large around the middle :P.  He has taken over our school room as his bedroom, so I have evacuated to Mom and Dad's room until I get a loft bed... :P

Anyway.......................

Think that's all now :P

Summer

Wow... It's been 2 months since I've updated!  So much to go over... :P
I went to the End of the Year Gathering in Lancaster at the end of May/early June.  I had TONS of fun meeting classmates and playing games and stuff.  I went kayaking down the Susquehanna on a windy day... >:D.  After the EOTYG, I went to Creation Fest!  That was an awesome time of praising God and seeing tons of my favorite artists.  Liana and I were total grumps at the end of the 5 days.  We saw Switchfoot, and got their autograph!  We also got the autographs of many of our favorites.  We saw TobyMac, Newsboys (again), Royal Tailor, and many others.  After leaving Creation, we headed straight to my grandparents house for a week with family.  My moms brothers and sister were their with their families.  We had tons of fun spending time together. :).  After that, soccer started up!  I now have two soccer games and 3 soccer practices a week, due to participation in Travel and Intramural teams.  Summer involved a lot of time at the pool until last week when summer school began.  To get ahead for the 2012/2013 year, I'm taking Omnibus 4 Secondary.  Class has been pretty fun so far.  Now, my mind is on our annual church camp.  I'm known as a prank legend... and this year, there will be 15+ new girls in the dorms.... >:3.  Let the pranking begin!  How has everyone else's summer been?  I'd love to hear from you all :)

School is ending!

I feel weird saying this... I really don't want school to end!  (Well maybe geometry..)  Two online classes in particular are my favorite.  Omnibus (advanced history - combines theology, literature, and history) is defiantly my favorite.  I've taken this class for three years now.  Omnibus 1 was ancients (Herodotus, Livy, Homer, etc...), omnibus 2 was Renaissance (Luther etc...), and omnibus 3 this year was modern (Hitler, Lincoln, Machen, etc...).  My classes have been the best ever.  So many memories were made.  The first day of class you're kinda shy...not knowing everyone, but I can honestly say, by the end of this year, my classmates were like my siblings, all over the world.  I'm going to miss them all a lot, but I know I'll see a few again next year.  There are always new memories to be made.  Tonight at 9:00 PM is my last class this year.  I hope we can have a great time honoring my teacher.  She means the world to me...  I've had her for four years (5 next year).  Latin 1, Omnibus 1, Latin 2, Omnibus 3.  She is an East-Coaster like me, so we keep each other up at 9-10:30 PM...  I plan on getting some fun music in, as well as a video and slideshow our class has prepared.  We really can't thank her enough for everything she's taught us.  She is so busy too.  She is a mom of four young kids.  As well as teaching our class, she teaches 15 other VPSA (Veritas Press Scholars Academy) classes.  She is the most amazing teacher ever!  I hope and pray that she is blessed tonight by what we have planned.  Unfortunately, I won't see her again until next year, but there is always texting!

Postmodern Times

Today as we enter the twenty-first century, a new worldview is emerging. The “modern,” strange as it is to say, has become old-fashioned. The twentieth century, for all of its achievements and catastrophes, is passing into history. The “modern ideas” that characterized the twentieth century no longer seem relevant. We are entering the “post modern” age.
The term “postmodern” primarily refers to time rather than to a distinct ideology. If the “modern” age is really over, Christians have every reason to be glad. Ever since the battles between “modernists” and “fundamentalists” (and before), Biblical Christianity has been bludgeoned by the forces of modernism, with its scientific rationalism, humanism, and bias against the past. Today the assumptions of modernism, including those that have bedeviled the church in this century, are being abandoned. Christians can rejoice at the dawn of a postmodern age.
While Modernist attacks on Christianity are losing their force, postmodernists are attacking Christianity on different grounds. For example, modernists would argue in various ways that Christianity is not true. One hardly hears this objection anymore. Today the most common critique is that “Christians think they have the only truth.” The claims of Christianity are not denied; they are rejected because they purport to be true. Those who believe “there are no absolutes” will dismiss those who reject relativism as “intolerant,” as trying to force their beliefs on other(20) people. Postmodernists reject Christianity on the same grounds that they reject modernism, with its scientific rationalism. Both Christians and modernists believe in truth. Postmodernists do not.
~Gene Edward Veith Jr. (Postmodern Times)

Postmodern Times is an excellently written book by Gene Edward Veith Jr.  It compares the times that we are in now (the Postmodern), and years ago (the Modern).  I'm reading it for my omnibus class along with 16 other students.  I really appreciate the work that Veith has put into this book b/c these are the times that we are growing up and living in.  Now-a-days, it is difficult to combat the ways of the world.  That is to say that we should shun all that is in the world, but this instead means we should be in the world, but not of the world.  The ways of the world will tempt us until the day we die, but we are not without hope!  I was reminded of this during my times at Track practice.  The conversations range from boys, to prom, to piercings etc...  It is something that makes me sad for the girls that I play with.  They can be the nicest people on the outside, but never know the love and truth of Jesus.  The tricky thing is reaching out to them, but not getting caught up in the lure of the world.  This is the postmodern.

Seeing the world, from my little corner makes me appreciate the life I have lived, and all that I have been given.  I been blessed with a Christian home, family, parents, and Jesus.  I have been protected, not in a bad way, but from the dangers of sin, at a young age.  I have been given a wonderful youth pastor and youth group.  I have the best friends in the earth, who aren't afraid to show me where I've done wrong.

That is just to name a few.

I think I'm out of thoughts... At least for now.

Behr's birthday!

~For those of you who don't know, Behr is my 1 year old chocolate lab~

Well today is Behr's birthday.  This would be completely normal, except for the fact that we celebrated his birthday 8 days ago.  Evidently, we had looked at his information wrong, b/c we though it said April 11.  So April 11, we celebrated, gave him a cake, and generally made him feel special.  Then today, I wake up to laughter, and my little sister running into my room yelling "It's Behr's birthday today!!"  I thought I had gone back in time.

Anyway, Happy birthday Behr!

Science Joke

I just read this hilarious joke in my science book of all places.  Hope it makes you laugh :D

Sherlock Holmes and his faithful companion Dr. Watson go on a camping trip.  They find a beautiful spot and set up their tent.  After a full day enjoying nature, they go to their tent and fall asleep.  Some hours later, Holmes wakes up Dr. Watson and says, "Look up at the sky and tell me what you see."  Watson is awestruck.  After a moment, he says, "I see countless stars."  Mr. Holmes replies, "What does that tell you?"  Watson considers for a moment and says, "It tells me that the universe is vast, and it will probably take us several lifetimes to gain even a small amount of understanding as to how it functions and what our place is in it."  Mr. Holmes asks, "Anything else?"  Mr. Watson thinks for a moment and says, "Based on the position of the stars, I would say it is approximately two o'clock in the morning."  Once again, Mr. Holmes asks, "Anything else?"  Desperate now, Watson replies "Because the sky is so clear, we will probably have a beautiful day tomorrow."  Once again, Mr. Holmes asks, "Anything else?"  Frustrated, Mr. Watson says, "I can't think of anything else.  What does it tell you?"  Holmes is silent for a moment ans says, "Elementary, my dear Watson.  Someone has stolen our tent."

I got a bucket of laughs out of that : )

Dentist Office - House of Torture

I was just at the Dentist Office...UGH.  Basically I fail at brushing my teeth, so I had a cavity in my upper right tooth.  I went to the office to get it filled and get sealants on my other three teeth.  The sealants went fine, but then came the filling.... >_<  I now hate drills, and things that go "buzz" and talkative dentist people that think its all fine and dandy when my mouth is on FIRE! (lol)  Anyway, eventually they numbed me.  Now I can't feel my nose or right side of mouth... >_>  Finally that is over, and I am inspired to ALWAYS BRUSH.  and ALWAYS FLOSS.  and NEVER AGAIN HAVE TO GO THROUGH THAT. :P  Now my parents are happy I went through that...They say I will be inspired..  :|  Ok, I'm done complaining... : )
To finish off, a short, but TOTALLY TRUE dental quote : )

Some tortures are physical
And some are mental,
But the one that is both
Is dental.

Worship Night

Just came back from a worship night at our church.  It was a great time of ministry, and Christ.  We sang a song called "When You Move" by Steve and Vikki Cook.  I really loved the chorus and thought I'd share it:

For when You move our lives our changed
We know a taste of Heaven here
We're crying out for more of You
Lord, come and move

Alright, I'm going to bed now... :P

My first post...

So anyway, this is my first post I guess...I'm not really sure what to say other than, READ MY UPDATES, and POSTS, and EVERYTHING ELSE!  Seriously,  I'll try to post everyday.  I hope this blog can be uplifting for some, and a bucket of laughs for others.  But seriously, if you are already laughing...I dunno what to say.  Anyway, to close out this amazing first post, this is a quote from one of my teachers, and I thought it was a pretty smart thing to say.

Christian education is not teaching you what to think, as much as how to think.
-Joanna Hensley

Thanks for reading, hope you're not falling asleep!
